Lawrence earned his Bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University Hawaii, where he majored in vocal performance and piano. During his time in Hawaii, he directed the BYU-Hawaii University Chorale for three years. He was the founding director of Our Voice, a vocal ensemble that performed for a wide range of audiences all over O'ahu. During his time in Hawaii, he was a sought-after vocalist and musician, performing with many diverse ensembles, representing a wide range of styles and genres. Just a few of these ensembles include Broadway Review, Salsa Orchestra, Shaka Steel Drum Band, and Musicals. Another area of interest for Laureano has been in the area of Broadway musical direction where he has worked as vocal coach, choreographer, performer, and musical director in Hawaii and Utah.
“In addition to the ensemble experiences, I was surrounded by people from different countries and backgrounds. Being in a multicultural environment increased my appreciation for diversity. While each culture was unique, I could see first-hand how all of them could work together in a choral setting to work toward a common goal. This is one of the miracles of choral singing.”
